Scope Boundary — Honest Limitations of This Tool

Full privacy. Your files are read with FileReader and processed with canvas on your own device. No uploads, no server, no tracking. The tool keeps working even if you disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
Frame capture = approximation, not precision. The tool draws the GIF frame currently showing in the browser onto the canvas. For animated GIFs you can set a delay (ms) then “Re-capture” to capture the frame at that time position — but this is not precise frame-by-frame extraction (e.g. “grab frame #7”). Precise extraction needs a dedicated GIF decoder, deliberately left out to keep the tool lightweight and 100% client-side.
Animation is lost. Output is always a single static JPG image. JPG supports neither animation nor transparency; transparent pixels are flattened onto your chosen background color.
Practical limits. No artificial size limit, but giant GIFs (hundreds of MB) can slow the browser tab because all computation happens locally.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is this GIF to JPG converter free?
Yes, 100 percent free with no file-count limits, no account sign-up, and no watermark. Everything runs in your own browser.
Are my GIF files uploaded to a server?
No. Files are read directly on your device using FileReader and canvas. Not a single byte of your files is sent to the internet, so it is safe for personal files.
Can I convert an animated GIF to JPG?
Yes. The result is a single static JPG image containing one frame of that animation. Animation cannot be preserved because the JPG format simply does not support animation.
Which frame is captured from an animated GIF?
By default, the frame displayed when the GIF loads in the browser, usually the first frame. You can also set a delay, e.g. 1500 ms, so the tool captures the frame shown at that moment, e.g. to grab a moment mid-animation.
Can I pick a specific frame, e.g. the fifth frame?
Not precisely. Exact frame selection needs a dedicated GIF decoder not available in this lightweight tool. The time-delay option is an approximation approach — it captures whatever frame is showing at that millisecond. We prefer to be honest about this limit rather than claim an inaccurate feature.
How do I adjust the JPG output quality?
Slide the quality control from 1 to 100. Values 90 to 95 give near-perfect visual quality with reasonable file size, 70 to 85 suit the web, and below 60 the size is tiny but compression artifacts start to show.
Is GIF transparency preserved in JPG?
No. The JPG format does not support transparency. Transparent pixels are flattened onto your chosen background color, white by default. Pick any color via the color picker to blend with your design.
Can I resize the converted image?
Yes. Fill in the target width or height; the other side follows automatically to keep the aspect ratio locked. If both sides are filled, the image follows exactly the size you requested.
Can I convert many GIF files at once?
Yes. Select or drag many files at once, configure once, then press Convert All. Each result downloads one by one via its own download button, without ZIP, to stay 100 percent client-side.
How are downloaded files named?
The original name is kept with the extension changed to .jpg, e.g. animation.gif becomes animation.jpg. If a file has no extension, .jpg is appended to the name.
Is there a GIF file size limit?
No artificial limit from this tool, but very large GIFs, e.g. hundreds of MB or huge resolutions, can make the browser slow or run out of memory because the whole process runs on your device.
Does it work on Android phones or iPhones?
Yes, as long as you use a modern browser like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge. The layout is responsive and the buttons are large enough for touch.
Why doesn’t the JPG result move like the original GIF?
Because JPG is a static image format, animation is indeed lost on conversion. If you need a moving image, stick with GIF or a video format like MP4 or WebM.
Is it safe for secret or personal GIF files?
Yes. Because nothing is uploaded to any server, secret files never leave your device. You can verify it yourself: disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool keeps working fully.
