DLS Calculator — Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Revised Target & Par Score
Revised targets for rain-affected ODI & T20 cricket, computed with the ICC DLS Standard Edition resource table. Enter each interruption — the calculator shows every step.

G50 is the average total expected from a full uninterrupted innings at that level. It is only used when Team 2 ends up with more resources than Team 1.
Team 1 (batted first)
Interruptions during Team 1's innings
Team 2 (chasing)
Add one row per rain interruption. A delayed start is an interruption at the very first ball: overs remaining = format overs, wickets lost = 0, overs lost = overs taken off the allocation.
How the calculation works
- Every combination of overs remaining and wickets lost is converted to a resource percentage from the published DLS Standard Edition table (relative to a full 50-over innings).
- Each interruption's lost resource = table value at suspension minus table value at resumption (same wickets). Losses accumulate.
- R1 = Team 1's starting resources minus their lost resources (and minus unused resources if their innings ended early). R2 = Team 2's starting resources minus their lost resources.
- If R2 < R1: par = Team 1 score × R2/R1 (rounded down). If R2 = R1: par = Team 1 score. If R2 > R1: par = Team 1 score + G50 × (R2−R1)/100 (rounded down). Revised target = par + 1.
- If play is abandoned, Team 2's score is compared against the par score: above it wins, equal ties, below it loses.
Fractional overs (e.g. 12.4) are handled by linear interpolation between table rows — a calculator convention. The official method uses ball-by-ball tables for mid-over stoppages. For T20 the same table is used with a 20-over maximum; resource percentages stay on the 50-over scale, so G50 applies unchanged.

Frequently asked questions
What is the DLS method in cricket?
The Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method is the system used to set a fair revised target when rain or another interruption shortens a limited-overs cricket match. It treats overs remaining and wickets in hand as two separate batting resources, converts every overs-and-wickets combination into a single resource percentage from a published table, and adjusts the target so both teams faced a proportionally fair contest.
What is a par score?
The par score is the score Team 2 must reach to tie the match; the revised target to win is always par plus one. If play is abandoned with Team 2 exactly on par, the match is tied. Above par Team 2 wins, below par Team 1 wins.
How is the revised target calculated? Show an example.
Example: Team 1 scores 256 in a full 50 overs. Rain delays Team 2 and they are given 30 overs. The resource table gives 75.1 percent for 30 overs with no wickets lost, so par equals 256 times 75.1 divided by 100, which is 192.256, rounded down to 192. The revised target is 193.
What is G50 and which value should I use?
G50 is the average total expected from a full uninterrupted innings at the level being played. It is used only when Team 2 has more resources than Team 1, to price the extra resources in runs. Use 245 for international and first-class cricket, and 200 for associate members, women's ODIs and club or recreational cricket, following the ICC regulations.
What does the resource table show?
Each cell is the percentage of batting resources remaining for a combination of overs left and wickets lost, relative to a full 50-over innings. For example, with 30 overs left and no wickets lost a team has 75.1 percent of its resources, but with 2 wickets lost it has 67.3 percent. A full 50-over innings with all wickets in hand is 100 percent.
Does this DLS calculator work for T20 matches?
Yes. The same Standard Edition table is used with a 20-over maximum. A T20 innings starts with 56.6 percent of the resources of a 50-over innings, which is the table value for 20 overs remaining with no wickets lost. All formulas work the same way.
Is this the official ICC DLS calculation?
No. This calculator implements the publicly documented DLS Standard Edition for recreational and educational use. Official international matches use the Professional Edition, which runs in licensed software and adjusts for the actual scoring rate. Results here are very close for matches played near the average scoring rate.
