Value vs. moderate vs. deluxe — same family, three trips

Fixed comparison: 2 adults + 2 children, 5 park days, 5 nights, regular season, before flights. Change your own inputs above for a personalized version.

ScenarioTrip totalPer dayPer person / day
Value trip
Value resort, Quick-Service dining, base tickets, no paid line-skipping.
$4,697$939.40$234.85
Moderate trip
Moderate resort, table-service dining plan, Park Hopper, Lightning Lane on 3 of 5 days.
$6,811$1,362.20$340.55
Deluxe trip
Deluxe resort, table-service dining, Park Hopper Plus, Lightning Lane every day, Memory Maker, parking.
$9,342$1,868.40$467.10

Value assumes a value resort, Quick-Service dining, base tickets, and no paid line-skipping. Moderate steps up to a moderate resort, the table-service dining plan, Park Hopper, and Lightning Lane on 3 of 5 days. Deluxe uses a deluxe resort, Park Hopper Plus, Lightning Lane every day, Memory Maker, and parking.

Worked example: 5-day value-season family trip

2 adults + 2 kids, 5 park days, value season, 5 nights at a value resort, base tickets, Quick-Service dining, no extras:

  • Tickets: 5-day value-season adult tickets at $535 each (×2), child tickets $25 less each (×2) → $2,090
  • Hotel: $199 × 0.90 value-season rate × 5 nights → $895.50
  • Dining: Quick-Service $60/$25 × 4 people × 5 days → $850
  • Total: $3,835.50 → $767.10 per day, $191.78 per person per day

Add flights, Lightning Lane ($540 for 4 people over 5 days at the typical $27/day), and souvenirs on top of this base.

2026 Disney World ticket prices (adult base, before options)

Multi-day tickets are date-based: the low end reflects value-season dates, the high end holiday dates. Child tickets (ages 3–9) run about $25 less per ticket.

9 ways to lower your Disney vacation cost

  1. Travel in value season. Late August–September, early December, and January bring the lowest ticket and hotel prices — and shorter lines.
  2. Buy the longest ticket you will actually use. The per-day price collapses after day 4: a 7-day value ticket averages $83/day.
  3. Skip Park Hopper unless you will split days. At $100 per ticket, a family of 4 pays $400 for the privilege — one park per day is plenty for most families.
  4. Stay at a value resort. The room is where you sleep; the parks are where you spend the day. Five nights at a value resort in regular season is about $995.
  5. Use the Quick-Service plan — or bring breakfast. Disney allows outside food; breakfast in the room plus Quick-Service lunch/dinner beats the table-service plan for most families.
  6. Be selective with Lightning Lane. Buy it only for your Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios days, not every park day.
  7. Skip arrival/departure-day tickets. Enjoy the resort pool and Disney Springs on travel days instead of paying for partial park days.
  8. Set a souvenir budget per person in the calculator above — and stick to it. Gift shops are engineered to break budgets.
  9. Compare the three scenarios above before booking: the jump from value to moderate is mostly hotel and dining, and you can mix tiers (value hotel + table-service dining) for a custom middle ground.

Disney vacation cost — frequently asked questions

For 2 adults and 2 kids with 5 park days, expect roughly $4,697 for a value trip, $6,811 for a moderate trip, and $9,342 for a deluxe trip in regular season — before flights. As a concrete example, 5 park days in value season with a value resort and the Quick-Service dining plan totals about $3,835.50, or $191.78 per person per day. Tickets and hotel are the two biggest levers; dining plan choice is third.

Per-day cost falls steeply as you add days. A 4-day adult base ticket in regular season is about $608 total ($152 per day), while a 7-day ticket in value season is about $581 total ($83 per day). A 10-day ticket in holiday season reaches about $970 total, or $97 per day. Child tickets (ages 3-9) run about $25 less per ticket than adult tickets.

Almost always. A single day at Magic Kingdom in holiday season can cost up to $209, while a 7-day value-season ticket averages $83 per day — less than half. The discount curve flattens after about 7 days: days 8-10 add relatively little. If you only want one park day, pick the cheapest park: Animal Kingdom starts at $119 in value season.

Planning figures per night in regular season: value resorts about $199, moderate resorts about $349, deluxe resorts about $649, and off-site hotels near the parks about $129. Season matters a lot — holiday-season rates run about 45 percent above regular season, while value season runs about 10 percent below. Five nights at a value resort in regular season is about $995.

The Quick-Service plan runs about $60 per adult and $25 per child per day; the standard Disney Dining Plan with table-service meals runs about $98 per adult and $31 per child per day. For 2 adults and 2 kids over 5 days, that is $850 on Quick-Service or $1,290 on the standard plan. A pay-as-you-go mix of quick and table service typically lands around $75 per adult per day.

Park Hopper adds $100 per ticket (Park Hopper Plus, which adds water parks, is $120 per ticket) — the same flat fee whether your ticket is 2 days or 10. For a family of 4 on 5-day tickets that is $400 just for hopping. It pays off if you plan split days (morning park plus evening fireworks elsewhere) or want to dodge a crowded park mid-day. If your family is happy with one park per day, skip it — the base ticket savings on multi-day tickets are already large.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass typically costs around $27 per person per day, varying by park and date (roughly $18-$35). For a family of 4 over 5 park days at the typical price, that is $540 — more than a full day of tickets. Single Passes for individual headliner rides cost extra per ride. This calculator lets you set your own per-day price and choose how many days to buy it, so you can see the real impact before you commit.

Value season — late August through September, early December before the holiday rush, and most of January — has the lowest ticket prices and hotel rates (about 10 percent below regular season on hotels, and tickets at the bottom of their date-based ranges). Holiday weeks (Thanksgiving, Christmas to New Year) sit at the top of every range. Shifting the same 5-day family trip from holiday to value season can save well over a thousand dollars on tickets and hotel alone.

A useful rule of thumb from the worked example: about $191.78 per person per day covers tickets, a value resort, and Quick-Service dining for a 5-day value-season trip (family of 4). A moderate trip with the table-service dining plan and Park Hopper lands near $340.55 per person per day, and a deluxe trip near $467.10. Add flights, souvenirs, and Lightning Lane on top of whichever tier you choose.

Yes — as optional adders you control. Enter your total flight cost, set parking days (standard theme-park parking is $30 per day), add Memory Maker photo downloads ($185 advance purchase), and set a souvenir budget per person. The breakdown table shows each category separately so you can see exactly where the money goes and which adder to cut first.

Ticket ranges are built from published 2026 Walt Disney World price bands (for example, 4-day adult base tickets span $492–$724 and 1-day Magic Kingdom tickets span $144–$209), with season mapping documented in the methodology. Hotel, dining plan, Lightning Lane, Memory Maker, and parking figures are typical planning values, not live quotes — Disney uses date-based pricing that moves daily. Treat the total as a budgeting anchor accurate to roughly plus or minus 10-15 percent, and re-check the official site before you pay.

Methodology: multi-day ticket bands from published 2026 Walt Disney World price ranges (e.g., 4-day adult base $492–$724; 1-day Magic Kingdom $144–$209); season mapping takes the low end for value season, the midpoint for regular season, a 25/75 blend for peak, and the high end for holiday. Hotel nightly figures are planning values scaled by a documented season multiplier. Dining plan, Lightning Lane, Memory Maker ($185), and parking ($30/day) figures are typical 2026 values.
