IG Line Break Generator
Type your caption with normal blank lines — this tool inserts an invisible U+2800 character on every empty line so Instagram keeps your paragraph spacing. Paste the result and it posts exactly as you typed it.

How it works — honestly
- Instagram deletes lines with zero characters. A normal blank line contains nothing, so Instagram merges your paragraphs into one block. That is the entire bug this tool works around.
- U+2800 looks empty but is a real character. Braille Pattern Blank renders as blank space in every font, yet it counts as one of your 2,200 characters — so Instagram treats the line as content and keeps the gap.
- Trailing spaces are the silent killer. Instagram strips spaces at line ends, so a line that looks empty in your notes app can still collapse. Trimming them (on by default) removes this failure mode.
- U+200B is riskier, periods are visible. Zero-width space gets stripped by Instagram and some keyboards; a period always survives but shows. U+2800 is the sweet spot: invisible and persistent.
- One honest caveat: this exploits how Instagram's parser treats characters today. If Instagram ever changes its parsing, results could change — no tool can control the Instagram app itself.
IG Line Break — frequently asked questions
Why do my line breaks disappear when I post on Instagram?
Instagram collapses any line that contains no characters, so the blank lines you typed merge into one solid block of text. Trailing spaces at the end of a line are removed too, which is why a line that looks empty in your editor can still fail. This tool fixes both problems: it trims trailing spaces and places one invisible U+2800 character on every blank line, so Instagram sees a real character and keeps the gap.
What is the invisible character this tool inserts?
The default spacer is U+2800 BRAILLE PATTERN BLANK, decimal 10240. It renders as a blank space in every font but counts as a real character, which is exactly what Instagram needs to preserve the line. You can verify it with our Unicode lookup tool: paste the formatted result there and every blank line shows up as U+2800.
Is using invisible characters against the Instagram rules?
No. You are pasting plain text that you formatted yourself, exactly as if you had typed the character by hand. The tool does not automate posting, does not touch your account, and does not use any Instagram API. It only prepares text on your own device; what you choose to post is up to you.
Should I use U+2800, U+200B, or a period as the spacer?
U+2800 is the best default: Instagram never strips it and it renders completely blank. U+200B zero-width space works in some apps, but Instagram and several phone keyboards strip it, so blank lines can collapse again. A visible period always survives, but it shows in your caption, so use it only when you want a visible divider between paragraphs.
How many characters can an Instagram caption have?
Captions and comments allow up to 2,200 characters, bios allow 150 characters, and you can use at most 30 hashtags per post. The live counter on this page counts the formatted text including the invisible spacers, so the number you see is the number Instagram will count.
Does this work for bios, comments, and Reels captions too?
Yes. The formatted text is plain Unicode, so it pastes anywhere Instagram accepts text: feed captions, Reels and Story text, comments, direct messages, and your profile bio. Switch the counter to bio mode to check the 150-character bio limit before you paste.
Is my caption uploaded to any server?
No. Everything runs in your browser with JavaScript: your text never leaves your device, there is no account or signup, and the page keeps working even if you go offline after it loads.
